Hawaii Hotel Guide
Hawaii hotels are the most diverse in the Pacific. There are over a hundred large hotels and condominiums on each of the main islands, including several 1000-room mega golf-resort complexes, a thriving bed and breakfast market, country style inns, lots of private holiday rentals, a few backpacker hostels and an extensive network of excellent National Park camp grounds.

Unfortunately it all comes at a price - Hawaii accommodation is very expensive compared to its South Pacific neighbours, and even by US standards - a simple budget room will cost US$60 and up with a standard room costing at least US$120 a night. For the luxury international resorts, expect to pay US$300 a night for a standard room and perhaps double for beach view.

But this doesn't put tourists off - in fact, many places are booked out well in advance and finding that special bed and breakfast or holiday rental in the winter months (Jan-April) can be difficult unless you plan ahead.

The best value for money accommodations are bed and breakfast guesthouses for couples and, if you have a large group or family, one of the many vacation rentals. Both will depend on you having a car to get about, but this is a good think so you can visit independent restaurants, find quiet beaches and generally do your own sightseeing.
